That was March. I was suffering from the poor project management and designer’s whimsical feature requirements. I started sending resumes and taking interviews and really got one position before the Qingming break. It was the best decision I made in Daydream Games. Now I don’t need to deal with the tightened project timeline and other nonsense.

It disappointed me that this game company did not want a technical artist but a cheap labor. The leading artists couldn’t make the final decision on the art assets; designer would reject the art design and 3D models in the last stage by veto power; artists didn’t want to use helpful tools or follow guidelines to import art assets. As a technical artist, all I did was importing art assets. I almost stopped making progress and accumulate knowledge on shader, render, and graphic.

So the job hunting began. Technical Artists was a needed job and people had very high expectations. Of course, I did not meet most of the requirement because I wasted so much time on importing assets. I lost half of my knowledge. Luckily I still got one. The new job still made me work on Saturday and stay until 9pm, but I did not have many choices in here, considered my abilities and knowledge. At least I am doing what I like and have a decent income.

I will not stay in this new place long time. I’ll leave after a year. The colleagues in here are typical traditional Chinese and the environment is full of toxic masculinity. I do not like them, but I can bear with them for now.
